A new “green” composite mat rail
material called Aluminastic is now
offered as an option in the Base Specialties commercial floor matting product
line. According to the company, Aluminastic is a composite of 100 percent
landfill-diverted materials that is more ductile, stronger and dimensionally
more stable compared to traditional aluminum alloys.
Corrosion resistance and
density are comparable to current engineered materials. Color is that of
conventional aluminum. The major Aluminastic advantage, according to Ed Green,
President of Base Specialties, is the economical use and re-use of a recycled
product. Aluminastic mat rails are now available on the Base series 300 and 400
matting products.
