Carpet Backing Filler Made From Recycled Carpet Waste

Mohawk Industries announced a partnership with Polar Materials Inc. to produce a carpet backing filler created from recycled carpet waste. Waste sand, or calcium carbonate plus latex, from reclaimed carpet is put through Polar Materials’ patent-pending C2C (carpet-to-carpet) process. C2C removes residual carpet fibers and blends the sand with limestone, which is commonly used as filler for latex carpet backings.
