Richfield, Ohio — Comfort Control Group’s headquarters has been awarded the prestigious ENERGY STAR designation from the Environmental Protection Agency. Only 13 office buildings in northern Ohio have received the certification and only 138 in the entire state. In addition, Comfort Control Group is the first non-government office building in Summit County to be so recognized.

“Because we’ve built our business on helping others become more efficient in their energy use, it made sense to let everyone know that we practice what we preach,” said Brian Wagner, president of Comfort Control Group. “We could think of no better way than the EPA’s ENERGY STAR. We’re honored to be one of the few office buildings in northern Ohio with this distinction.”

Commercial buildings that have earned the ENERGY STAR use nearly 40 percent less energy than average buildings and emit 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Buildings excel due to good energy management practices such as routine energy efficiency benchmarking.

Comfort Control Group’s headquarters features energy-efficient indirect lighting, lighting control, a temperature control system that manages energy consumption, a warehouse lit primarily by a natural day-lighting system, waterless urinals and low-flow toilets. In fact, the local water department replaced the meter because the water usage was so low they thought it had malfunctioned.
