BALTIMORE – Danfoss, a leading global manufacturer of electronic controls, components, compressors and heat exchangers for air conditioning and refrigeration, has moved its North American headquarters to Baltimore Crossroads@95, a new 1,000-acre business park near the intersection of Maryland Route 43 and Interstate 95 in White Marsh, MD.

On May 19, Danfoss celebrated the grand opening of its new building with a ribbon-cutting event followed by a luncheon. John Galyen, president, Danfoss Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, North America, cut the ribbon and invited all 200 employees into the 46,200-square-foot facility. Also on hand were several members of Danfoss’ North American board of directors.

The building meets U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Commercial Interiors certification. The facility’s sustainable and green design features a Danfoss energy management system, a high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, high-performance windows, lavatories featuring low water volume toilets and waterless urinals, a white thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roofing system, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood, drought-tolerant landscaping and plants, and low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, carpets and adhesives.

The energy management system features a Danfoss AK2-SC 255 controller, which manages both the lighting and HVAC in the facility. Motion sensors ensure that lights are turned off in unoccupied areas. The warehouse area features skylights, ceiling lights that can be cycled off in two stages, and super-efficient T-5 fluorescent light fixtures. All heating and air conditioning systems are controlled by smart thermostats mounted in each area; the thermostats help maximize energy efficiency.

“As a global leader in the manufacture and marketing of innovative, high-efficiency, environmentally responsible products, we are proud to move into a LEED-registered building whose design aligns itself with Danfoss’ commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility,” Galyen said. “Our new location sets energy efficiency as a high priority and is among the first single-story LEED-registered buildings in the Baltimore County region.”

Danfoss’ address has changed to 11655 Crossroads Circle, Baltimore, MD 21220-2863. However, the company’s telephone number (410-931-8250), fax number (410-931-8256) and email address (baltimore@danfoss) remain the same.
