Lightweight Steel Framing System

Peachtree City, Ga. — While Steelform’s patented and engineered lightweight steel framing system is manufactured with the same geometric profile as conventional “C” studs and joists, the Steelform profile is 15 to 40 percent less weight and will outperform conventional “C” profiles in strength, thermal efficiency and acoustic performance, the company reports. Composite Floor System Uses Recycled Steel

Alpharetta, Ga. — The steel in everything from old cars to broken down washers and refrigerators is resmelted and fabricated for use in Vulcraft’s (a division of steel recycler Nucor) ECOSPAN Composite Floor System. According to the company, the ECOSPAN system uses 99 percent recycled material in the joists and 70 percent recycled material in the decking. www.ecospan-usa.com.

Fenestration Systems Manufacturer Earns C2C Certification

Austell, Ga. — YKK AP America Inc., has earned Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification for its ThermaShade sunshade system. According to the company, ThermaShade sunshades optimize the use of natural daylight, reducing energy costs and improving the comfort level for building occupants. YKK AP’s Dublin, Ga., plant is ISO 14001 certified, recycles 100 percent of aluminum waste onsite, captures and eliminates 93 percent of all solvent emissions from its paint line, and uses state-of-the art techniques for wastewater treatment. www.ykkap.com.
