Complete Shading System

New York — The EcoVeil shadecloth is made from a new material — a thermoplastic olefin (TPO) based yarn. It looks, feels and performs similarly to the vinyl coated polyester yarns that MechoShade has produced for 35 years, the company reports. EcoVeil is washable, UV resistant and flame retardant. It is antimicrobial and, thus, resists staph and mildew growths. In the future, the customers of MechoShade Systems can return their EcoVeil shadebands for recycling into new EcoVeil shadecloth or into other thermoplastic olefin (TPO) based products. EcoVeil is a Cradle to Cradle-certified product. www.mechoshade.com.

Solar Shading Fabrics Eliminate Off-Gassing Odors

Poway, Calif. — GlacierScreen Solar Shading Fabrics from Hunter Douglas Contract help preserve indoor air quality by eliminating nearly all odors due to off-gassing, the company reports. GlacierScreen fabrics have been certified to meet the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for the assessment of harmful substances in textiles and certification as a low-emissions product for indoor air quality is pending. In addition, GlacierScreen fabrics pass the NFPA 701 standard for small-scale flammability and offer proven sterilization against bacteria, fungi and viruses. Silver nano sterilization is verified for anti-microbial performance. All these properties have been tested to remain in the fabric for the long term, even after cleaning. www.hunterdouglascontract.com.
