Sustainable Facility eNews
October 2008 Edition

Greetings and welcome to the October 2008 edition of the Sustainable Facility eNews.

JMayton

I'm excited to announce that voting for the inaugural Sustainable Facility and Environmental Design + Construction Readers' Choice Awards is now open. I invite and encourage you to visit  http://vote.sustainablefacility.com and hit the polls for your favorite green facility products. Vote as many times as you like -- let your voice be heard!

In addition to this online only Awards competition, Sustainable Facility has pushed our integrated media platform even further and has added video to our homepage. In addition to our Breaking News, Blogs, Event Calendar and archives, this educational video represents another milestone for the magazine. Tune in today, and keep an eye out for the next installment with our November issue, focused on recycling. If you've got an educational video you'd like to submit for consideration, drop me a note at maytonj@bnpmedia.com . If agreeable, I can provide FTP site instructions for you to send it on over for posting.

The editorial team is staying quite busy building up for Greenbuild 2008, Nov. 19 - 21, in Boston. If you're heading to the show, be sure to drop by Sustainable Facility and Environmental Design + Constructions's (ED+C) booth, # 1833.

Thanks for reading.
Now, go cast your vote for your favorite green product(s).

Global Warming, Climate Change, and the Built Environment
Rapidly accelerating climate change (global warming), which is caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, is now fueling dangerous regional and global environmental events. Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration illustrates that buildings are responsible for almost half (48 percent) of all GHG emissions annually. Seventy-six percent of all electricity generated by U.S. power plants goes to supply the Building Sector. Therefore, immediate action in the Building Sector is essential if we are to avoid hazardous climate change. www.architecture2030.org
