Sustainable Facility eNews February 2009 Edition
|
|
|
Greetings and welcome to the February 2009 edition of the Sustainable Facility eNews.
If you're a regular reader of Sustainable Facility columnists Michael Berning and Tommy Linstroth, then you might have been a little confused when you opened our February print issue and didn't see their columns.
Rest assured, we did run their columns, just not in the print issue -- unless you count that little section on our Table of Contents page labeled "Only Online." You might not have noticed that section, but it has run in every issue of Sustainable Facility -- sometimes as it appeared in our February issue, sometimes as a full page.
We simply want to bring the "Only Online" section (otherwise known as the Web TOC) to your attention because it'll tell you what's appearing at www.SustainableFacility.com
. There, you'll be able to find everything for a particular month that went beyond our print issue. More of our content will be appearing at the website in the coming weeks. In addition to columns like Michael's and Tommy's, we run columns from other contributors, as well as case studies, news, products, blogs, video and a whole host of other content.
The great thing is, if you're looking for something specific like a product or article on a particular subject, just type your query into the search bar. As someone who frequently uses that function, I can safely say that it sure beats leafing through every issue page by page.
Anyway, we just wanted to bring that to your attention in case you thought something was missing from our latest issue. It's still around. We've just moved it a little.
Cheers,
Derrick Teal Sustainable Facility Managing Editor |

 Provided by Honeywell
As codes tighten and energy costs skyrocket, there is significant and renewed interest in energy performance of buildings. Various associations, building codes and mandates all point towards higher energy performance and a significant reduction of greenhouse-gas-emitting fossil-fuel energy use in the coming years, resulting in carbon-neutral buildings in the future. This paper will examine the implications of these new codes and standards on increased R-value requirements for roofs and walls, air barriers for all new buildings, and improved mechanical-system efficiency.
