Welcome to the Targeted Sustainable Facility eNews: Water Efficiency and Quality

Conserve to Preserve   derrick2

As we compiled this year's list of the most requested products of the past year for Sustainable Facility's sister publication, ED+C, I was surprised at the number of products having to do with water. In fact, there were so many that I asked our production manager to recount the tallies two more times.

It shouldn't come as any surprise, though. It seems that areas of the south and southwest are constantly besieged by drought, which is a symptom of our ever-growing built environment having an impact on the amount of rainwater returning to rivers, lakes and underground aquifers. Additionally, the growing population in the U.S. and elsewhere is leading to greater water consumption.

Throw in the discovery of heightened levels of pharmaceuticals in public drinking water in the past year, and you have people starting to realize how scarce and valuable our planet's freshwater is.

The key to preserving what water we have is through less consumption, finding ways to be less wasteful and taking better care of our potable supplies. An added benefit to reducing overall water consumption is in reduced costs. After all, when something becomes scarcer and demand increases, prices tend to increase as well. To that end, this eNews highlights the news, products and some articles which focus on water quality and conservation.

Cheers,

Derrick
